Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ICE STUDIO d.o.o. ("we", "us", "our"), operating the Niche Kompass browser extension and website ("Niche Kompass", "the Service"), collects, uses, and protects your information. We are based in Croatia (EU) and process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In short: Niche Kompass reads publicly visible Etsy search results to give you market signals. We store your account details and your search history so you can revisit previous analyses and use the Service features. We do not sell your data. We do not connect to your Etsy account.

2. What we collect

Information you provide

Account details — the email address and password you use to register. Passwords are stored only as a secure cryptographic hash; we never store them in readable form.
Application details — information you submit when applying for access (e.g. your email and Etsy shop URL).
Product images — if you use List & Thumb Lab, the product photo you upload or link, which is processed to produce a listing suggestion.

Information collected as you use the Service

Search terms and market data — the keywords you research and information read from the public Etsy search results you view (listing URLs, titles, prices, thumbnails, shop names). This is the same information any visitor can see on Etsy.
Usage data — which features you use and how many credits you have used, so we can operate your plan.
Chrome local storage — the extension stores a login token and some working data in Chrome local storage so you stay signed in and the panel works.

What we do NOT collect: We do not connect to, log into, or access your Etsy account. We do not read private messages, orders, or any data behind an Etsy login. We only read the public search results shown in your browser.

3. How we use your information

To create and operate your account and trial or subscription.
To produce the market signals, analyses, blueprints and generated images you request.
To manage credits, billing and support.
To protect the Service against abuse and to comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you sign up for), legitimate interests (to run, secure and improve the Service), and consent where required. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Third-party services (processors)

To provide the Service, limited data is shared with providers who process it on our behalf:

Anthropic — market keywords and, where relevant, product images are sent to Anthropic's Claude models to generate text analysis. Sent per request; used to return your result.
Google — product images are processed only when you explicitly request image generation in List & Thumb Lab. Your product image and styling instructions are sent to Google's Gemini image model to produce the suggested image.
Stripe — handles payments and subscriptions. Card details are entered directly with Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. Stripe acts as merchant of record and handles applicable VAT.
Hosting — our application servers are hosted with Hetzner (EU). Our website and domain (nichekompass.com), including the access-application form, are hosted with Totohost (totohost.hr, Croatia, EU).

These providers are bound to use the data only to provide their service to us.

We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers. We do not use collected data for advertising purposes.

6. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (such as Anthropic, Google and Stripe) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are used to protect your data in line with the GDPR.

7. Browser permissions

The Niche Kompass extension requests access to Etsy pages (https://www.etsy.com/*) in order to read publicly visible listing information from the search results you view and display market insights inside your browser. The extension only activates on supported Etsy pages.

The extension also communicates with our own backend server (https://api.nichekompass.com/*) to process the market data and return your analysis, blueprints and generated images. No data is sent to any third party other than the processors listed in Section 5.

The extension does not monitor your browsing activity outside Etsy, does not track your activity across websites unrelated to Etsy, and does not access your Etsy account. It stores a login token and limited working data in Chrome local storage so you stay signed in and the panel works.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies required for authentication, preferences and analytics. The browser extension itself does not use advertising cookies.

9. Data retention

We keep account and usage data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Saved analyses and snapshots are kept until you delete them or close your account. If you delete your account, we remove associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet legal or accounting obligations.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise these, contact us at hello@nichekompass.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Croatia, AZOP).

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

12. Children

Niche Kompass is intended for business use by Etsy sellers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

13. Browser Extension

Niche Kompass operates as a Google Chrome browser extension. The extension analyses only publicly available information displayed on supported Etsy pages that you visit. It does not collect information from unrelated websites, does not access your Etsy account, and does not modify Etsy content beyond displaying Niche Kompass insights within your browser.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
